Winter in Tux

Skiing from December to April, and on the glacier as early as the end of September. It is 130 metres from Ferienhaus Evelyn to the Rastkogelbahn valley station, and in the evening the valley run brings you back into the village.

A ski holiday that starts at the front door

A winter holiday in Tux starts without a drive. It is 130 metres to the Rastkogelbahn valley station, the free sports bus stops in the village, and the snow covered valley run ends right back in the village.

Two to eight guests have 94 m² of space, with a modern, fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms and a ski room with a boot dryer in the house. Eva Eberl grew up in Tux and knows which slope is the right one in which conditions.

Five ski areas, one ski pass

The Ski- und Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000 links Hintertux, Eggalm, Rastkogel, Finkenberg, Mayrhofen and Ahorn into 206 kilometres of slopes, rising to 3,250 metres. 65 lifts and cable cars, 619 hectares of piste, a single ski pass.

The way in is right outside the house: up with the Rastkogelbahn, on to the Eggalm and across to Mayrhofen. If you want it all in one day, ski the glacier round, around 60 kilometres of descent and 15,000 metres of altitude across every ski mountain. On the Hintertux Glacier the season begins at the end of September and runs into the summer.

Two ski passes for the winter

There are two options for your winter holiday in the Tux valley: the ski pass for the Ski- und Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000 covering the ski mountains outside the door, and the Zillertal Superskipass for the whole valley.

Skifahren im Zillertal

Ski- und Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000

Five ski areas on one ticket: Hintertux Glacier, Rastkogel, Eggalm, Finkenberg and Mayrhofen. 206 kilometres of slopes, 65 lifts and cable cars, around 30 mountain huts. The sports bus between the valley stations is free.

Skihütte im Zillertal

Zillertal Superskipass

One ticket for all four large ski areas in the Zillertal, together around 546 kilometres of slopes and 180 lifts. You choose a validity between 2 and 21 days, and ski buses plus most public transport in the valley are included.

Skiing, tobogganing and cross country

Staying at Ferienhaus Evelyn means no car in the morning. The Rastkogelbahn is 130 metres away, the Eggalmbahn 1.6 kilometres, and the free sports bus stops in the village.

Rastkogel and Eggalm

The Rastkogelbahn takes you straight into the ski area, and from the Rastkogel you carry on to the Eggalm and across to Mayrhofen. The snow covered valley run leads back down to Vorderlanersbach, and afterwards your boots dry in the house's own ski room.

Snowpark am Hintertuxer Gletscher

Hintertux Glacier

Austria's longest ski season lies at the end of the Tux valley. The glacier reaches up to 3,250 metres, with a panorama terrace, the Betterpark and the Natur Eis Palast around 30 metres below the piste.

Tobogganing, cross country, winter walking

Two floodlit natural toboggan runs in the Tux valley, 68 kilometres of cleared winter walking paths and 32 kilometres of cross country trails starting right in Vorderlanersbach. Eva Eberl will tell you where to rent a toboggan and which sledging times apply.

Natur Eis Palast on the glacier

Below the piste on the Hintertux Glacier lies a crevasse you can walk into. The Natur Eis Palast leads through ice caves, past frozen waterfalls and an underground lake, with the ice glowing deep blue.

The guided tour takes about an hour and runs all year round, with booking in advance. Warm clothing and sturdy shoes are part of it, as the temperature inside stays close to freezing. The entrance is at the Sommerbergalm top station, a good half hour from Vorderlanersbach.
