Skiing on the Rastkogel
Access is right around the corner: it will take you one minute on foot to get to the lift of the Rastkogelbahn! And off you go, up to an altitude of 2500 m and the beginning of 27 kilometres of ski runs - that define this small, yet fine ski area. The ski runs boast all levels of difficulty.
Do you prefer a larger ski area? The Rastkogel is part of the largest ski area within the Zillertal: Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000! The interconnected lifts will take you to the Eggalm and to adventure mountain Penken with its infamous Harakiri ski run. A total of 199 kilometres of ski runs and unique downhill runs await you.
Skiing on the Hintertux glacier
Welcome to Austria's only year-round ski area! At an altitude of 3250 metres you can expect 60 kilometres of downhill ski runs with all levels of difficulty, the Betterpark for freestyler and many other adventurous options for the entire family.
The Zillertaler Gletscherbahn is only 9 kilometres away from Vorderlanersbach. The busstop for the free skibus is nearby.
Winter hiking
Look forward to winter fun, hiking through the valley up the mountains! Winter in Tuxertal does not mean one is restricted in terms of exercise and outdoor fun. You can hike through the entire valley and all the way to Hintertux. This route that stretches 10 kilometres will take you approximately 3 hours.
A winter hiking tour up the mountains, e.g. to the Geislerhof - one of the highest located mountain farmhouses, which is open all-year round, serving food and drinks. Alternatively you are welcome to indulge in a 'Kasspatzlang' or Käsespätzle (cheesy pasta) or a roasted prime rib at Berggasthaus Höllensteinhütte, at an altitude of 1700 metres. The starting point of the winter hiking trails is in Vorderlanersbach.
Cross-country skiing & ski tours
High quality cross-country skiing options are offered on our doorstep, in Vorderlanersbach! The 2,5 kilometres long cross-country skiing trail 'Auenloipe' is perfect for beginners and aficionados. The cicrulair trail will lead you through the valley, along the Tuxbach creek.
A real challenge is the Luggi-Gredler cross-country skiing trail, that will lead you through Lanersbach and Juns to Madseit. This lovely trail stretches 14,3 kilometres and requires a fairly good condition. A wonderful experioence and a chance to engage in some skill testing while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the Tuxertal.
